Last week, from July 20th to 23rd, IronKids and their families traded their daily routines and stressors for the peaceful pastures of Mahwah, NJ. We are incredibly proud to share the success of IronMatt Week at Pony Power Therapies!
Pony Power is a remarkable organization that connects children and adults with disabilities or life challenges to the wonders of horses, farming, and nature. Thanks to the generous support of the IronMatt community, we were able to fully cover all program fees, ensuring that our families could simply focus on making memories together.
Finding Joy on the Farm
For four days, IronKids and their siblings were invited to dive into meaningful, confidence-building activities. The kids had the unforgettable opportunity to:
- Ride and connect with horses
- Interact with a variety of farm animals
- Get their hands dirty in the therapeutic garden program
It was a beautiful sight to watch our IronKids experience the simple, profound joy of nature.
A Space for Parents and Caregivers
We know that a pediatric cancer diagnosis affects the entire family, which is why taking care of the caregivers is just as important. While the kids were engaged in their morning farm sessions, Pony Power hosted parallel programs for parents and caregivers. The peaceful farm setting allowed everyone to slow down, be present, and take a much-needed break. It provided a safe space for connection, respite, and sharing supportive resources with others who truly understand the journey.

Looking Ahead
We are already dreaming up ways to bring our families back to the farm. Pony Power is tentatively planning a Fairy House Festival for October, and they have graciously offered tickets to our IronMatt families once it is confirmed.
